Product Discount Policy

For the timely delivery of the products you select, we [ Priority Mail ] recommend United States Postal Service Priority Mail for all domestic deliveries and Global Airmail for all international deliveries.   Priority Mail delivery is mostly 2 days to all 50 states ( Global Airmail delivery in 4 to 7 days ).

Our product prices have NOT been inflated to cover "hidden" charges.   We state below and on our SECURE Order page our Handling policy:
A nominal charge (handling fee) will be added to the actual shipping fees to cover the processing cost of your order ( see chart to the right ) - except on Coffee | Tea of the Month orders which are prepaid.   Shipping and handling fees are not refundable.

We custom seal in plastic wrap each individual package of our coffees and scented loose leaf teas ensuring that your products arrive as fresh as if you purchased them at our retail location  -  we know of no other company that takes this extra step for its customers.

IMPORTANT:     Please be aware that your shipment may experience minor delays due to enhanced USPS and UPS security activity.

Actual shipping charges means that exactly that.   You will be charge what the United States Post Office (for Priority and Express Mail delivery) or UPS (for their options) applies to the final packaged shipment.   Major online retailers have been "testing" consumer reactions to various shipping schemes - trying to eliminate shipping fees when ordering multiple items, but in the process raised product prices to make up the difference.   Shipping products is not inexpensive - our policy is fair and appropriate for the quality of the products that we offer and the level of customer service that we strive to meet with every order that we process.   All orders placed to be delivered via Priority or Express Mail Signature Confirmation will be sent with INSURANCE.

We did a comparison between our delivered pricing and that of one of the major coffee companies using their July 2002 prices from their web site and have listed the results below.   Shipping is 2 day delivery to the same 60610 example as used above (they get corporate freight discounts - we don't).   You will see that we are quite a bit less expensive - and in our humble opinion, our freshly roasted whole bean coffees are that much better - we're not a corporation, just selling the best coffees and teas available for reasonable prices.

Product Discounts - Discounts are offered for a variety of reasons and at different times of the year.
  • Bulk Coffee Discount   -   Order five (5) pound bulk bags of our freshly roasted whole bean coffees and receive a 10% savings over the single pound price ( for details click here ).
  • Coffee Credit   -   For every ten (10) pounds of coffee ordered within the calendar year you are entitled to a Credit ( $8.00 and $9.00 if all decaffeinated ordered )   -   said Credit being applied against the total of your next order.
  • Return Customer Specials   -   discounts offered around holidays and sometimes just because.
 If multiple discounts are in effect at the same time, it is the policy of SAME OLD GRIND that the greater of the savings being offered be applied.   An example would be as follows:
10% product savings is offered for a specific minimum purchase  -  and with the order the customers has purchased over 10 pounds of coffee during the specified period.   The greater of the savings will be applied against the order's product total - in this example the customer would receive the 10% savings against the order total - with the quantity ordered not be counted | accumulated towards the Credit Earned discount.

It is required that any special discount offers that require a code word (such as our recent IRS special) be listed in the COMMENT Section of the Order Form in order to qualify for the discount.   There will be NO exceptions to this requirement - unless we have erred in making it specifically clear.   We sometimes do make mistakes and will always do what is right for our customers
